Momma Terry's Night Out

Yea, that's right, MOMMA Terry! But let me go back to the first part of the update. Thursday night, around 11:15pm or so, I was laying in bed, when everything started shaking and rattling. I was experiencing my first Peruvian earthquake. Windows shook, everything seemed to be in a blender for about 30 seconds...then stillness. It was over and everything was intact and safe.
On Friday, the day started innocently enough, we went car shopping for Hogar de Ninos. It was pretty interesting, seeing cars we don't see in the US, but nothing was within our price range that we liked. We figured we'd have to move to private sellers to really get the deal we want. So, we left and went to lunch with a couple Pastor friends, one of them, Pastor Moises is the Pastor of the local church supplying much of the staff and laborers for Hannah's Home. The result of our lunch-meeting was that it looks like we have a possible Director and Tutor (mandated by the government) for our Home. From there, we moved back to the Hostal to change for what I thought was a political thank-you that Maria Teresa (our attorney, pictured above) had asked us to attend. Turned out to be what we would call a Mother-Daughter Banquet with about 100 mothers...and us! Now walking into something like that is hard enough, but being seated in the front table was down-right embarrassing! The banquet had already started and here we go, marching right up to the front! We were there to present special cups to all the mothers (that I had to hand out, one by one). The speaker was an old friend, Pastor Pedro Villchez, who really helped us get the ball rolling for Hannah's Home by introducing us to our now attorney, Maria Teresa Montes. Anyway, I'm rambling, but the cool part of the evening for me was that Pastor Pedro spoke about...HANNAH! Then I was introduced as a missionary starting this home for pregnant, homeless girls called Hannah's Home. Well, needless to say, the support and encouragement we recieved from these ladies and the Pastor of the church was amazing and encouraging. I felt really blessed to be there... And I NEVER thought I'd say that about a Mother-Daughter Banquet. Now the best part-we get to go to another one tonight!!!
Pray for us, as Monday is shaping up to be a very crucial day for Hannah's Home. We have a meeting with MIMDES and then with the owner of the property to establish a final cost and payment options. I'll be at one, but it's better if the "Gringo" isn't around for the second one. You see, we Americans are viewed as being very wealthy (all of us, but the joke's on them!) and the price would inflate instead of end up reasonable.
Love you all and miss you,
Terry

Terry,
I have rallied three prayer warriors to pray for Monday, and called for three more from the trip group. We will pray at 7:00 a.m. on Monday and beyond.
Pray all is well, and your flu is gone.
See you soon,
David
